The Family Support Center is a short-term residential program for children entering the foster care system for the first time in Onondaga County.  They may range in age from newborn to adolescence.  The purpose of the program is twofold…to keep siblings together when they are removed from their homes in order to lessen the trauma of separation from the family and to shorten the length of time children spend in the foster care system.  By performing a more thorough, immediate assessment of the family its strengths and resources and engaging them in services as soon as possible, there is a greater likelihood that  family can be re-unified.  It also shortens the length of time that children spend in the foster care system.   (14 beds)
