Hard-to-Place Program - Cottage #11 Elmcrest’s Hard-to-Place program is a nine-bed cottage for boys ages 8-11 years who require higher levels of supervision and supportive services than are available in our traditional residential program. These boys all have a mental health diagnosis and most require medication to help with their psychiatric needs. In addition to higher staff-to-resident ratios, the program is highlighted by enhanced psychiatric, psychological, and recreation services along with a family liaison to work directly with the families of the boys in residence. The boys referred to the program have been deemed “hard-to-place” and, were it not for this program, would be sent out of state for treatment or inappropriately placed in a lower level of care. The goal of the program is to transition the boys to a lower level of care as soon as possible and work with the families toward the ultimate objective of a successful return to their home. |
